I used to be so paranoid about my deadlift form.
It got to the point where I got stuck in this cycle of only picking up weight I knew I could hit, because I was so scared of hurting my back...that lasted for a good 1.5 years 😅
Last summer I had this big revelation;
I was so paranoid over my form, that I had never actually gotten hurt...but I let the fear of the *what if* literally keep me from doing it...
2 days ago when I hit this PR, I was having kind of an off day, or that’s what I told myself at least.
I was tired, there were no platforms open, it wasn’t my opening exercise, I had already done almost 10 working sets, hungry, no pre workout...
I was texting @__semety at the time, who in a nutshell told me to boss up, stop whining and turn on Beyoncé
So I said screw it, added 2x25’s to the bar, and busted out this 5x235lb PR while in prep, that’s about 2x my body weight 😈
...then attempted 255lb 3x and could barely get it off the floor LOL
After watching this back, I for sure had more reps in the tank even if my legs were shaking like a leaf the entire time
Everyone of us is stronger than we think we are. And if you’re anything like me, fear might very well be the only thing standing in your way too.
Weightlifting is a mental challenge just as much as it’s a physical challenge. Your mind will quit much sooner than your body will.
“Develop a strong mind and you will live a strong life...a strong mind does not let fear get in the way of success” 🔋
