About 6 months ago I heard this cool story about Amazon, and as a faithful Prime member for the last 5 years this story has stuck in my mind ever since.
Amazon started back in the day as an online book store. No groceries, clothes or electronics, just books. 📚📖
Now, we know Amazon as our go-to for everything we might need. Pooper scooper? They have it. Cute shirt? They have it. Random gag gifts that nobody needs EVER? Yup, they have that too!
But WHY is Amazon so successful? Because they started by doing ONE THING. They sold books. They just did that one thing really well. They became the best ebook website out there, then they added in electronics, fashion, their own streaming service…. the list goes on and on.
In a nutshell, what does Amazon’s model teach us? To start small. That less is better.
So many times we feel like we need to stop eating sweets cold turkey, go to the gym every single day for an hour, then we’re doing cardio in the morning and going keto, then before you know it you’re stressed yourself out so much this whole lifestyle change is way too much to manage. Who can relate?! 🤦🏼♀️
Now it’s become unattainable and not something you can keep up with...so it’s likely that you fall off the bandwagon and end up right back where you started, even with the best of intentions 😕
Let me say it louder for the people in the back…...LESS IS BETTER! ❕Stop trying to do everything all at once! Go sell your books, whatever that is for you. Get really really reallyyyyyy good at one thing and THEN add one more. Start selling books AND electronics 🤓
✖️Adjust to your 3 day/week gym schedule before adding in a 4th day.
✖️Eat your lean protein and whole foods before adding in supplements.
✖️Start hitting your gallon of water every day before you decide you need to start drinking celery juice.
Create changes you can see yourself holding to long term. You’re a reflection of what you do everyday, not every once in a while.
Because look at Amazon now...they’re still out there selling books 😉
