Why? The goals are great, but the plans suck. They’re not specific enough.
Think of a goal you have. It could be big, crazy, anything. Weight loss, business, family, relationships, whatever you want to achieve in life. Have something in mind?
Now, take 5 seconds and think of how awesome it would feel to have that goal achieved, that dream becoming a REALITY 🙌🏼 Feels good, huh?
Now let’s take 5 seconds to imagine the biggest, craziest dream we have, never coming true. Not even getting close to it 😔 Different feeling on this one, isn’t it?
You want to have six figures in the bank or a bikini body on deck? Then listen up, here’s how to make it happen 👇🏼
✖️MAKE THEM SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound. That means elevating your NYR from *I want to lose weight* to “By August 1st I want to lose 20lbs, to make that happen I need to lose ~3lbs a month, which fits into my big picture goal of setting an example for my family to value health and fitness.”
✖️WRITE THEM DOWN: put it on your bathroom mirror on a post it note, on your fridge, in your car, slap yourself in the face with your goals every day.
✖️BREAK THEM DOWN: Break down your goals SO SMALL, down to what you need to do on a daily basis to get there. For example, let’s say you want to lose 20lbs in 6 months:
20lbs in 6 months = ~3lbs per month = .75lbs per week = lifting 4x per week + implementing cardio when needed.
✖️HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE: whether it’s hiring a coach, commiting to a schedule, finding an accountability partner, create mini competitions with you and your friends (step goals anyone? ;)). Create a system that works for YOU, despite the motivation you may/may not have.
✖️REWARD YOURSELF: maybe every 5lbs down, you’ll take yourself to get a pedicure. Or every week you get your workouts in, you’ll do your cardio outside. Maybe when you’ve hit the halfway point, you’ll get a new workout outfit or product. Hard work deserves a reward!
